According to the Center for Women's Business Research, as of 2006, there are an estimated 55,434 privately-held, 50 percent or more women-owned firms in San Antonio, Texas, generating $9.3 billion in sales and employing 71,809 people. These firms account for 36.8 percent of all privately-held firms in the metropolitan area and include an estimated 41,088 privately-held, majority (51 percent or more) women-owned firms in San Antonio, Texas, accounting for 27.3 percent of all privately-held firms in the metropolitan area.
San Antonio ranks 39th out of the top 50 metropolitan areas in women-owned businesses.
