March 2010

A Message from the President

President Welcome to this special edition of our monthly Newsbrief.

We just wrapped up a fantastic Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards gala and are moving on to the An Income of Her Own® (AIOHO) Scholarship Luncheon. I am happy to announce that this was our most successful ESA event to date. For those of you that missed ESA or would like to see photos of the event, please click here.

Our efforts to weave ESA and AIOHO together have already begun. The AIOHO Scholarship Luncheon will be on April 9 at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse, which is owned and operated by Veronica Esparza. Our speaker for the event is Susan Todd. Both of these fabulous women are 2010 ESA award winners.

Please register as soon as possible. The cost is $25 for you, and if you would like to sponsor a teen, you can do that for an additional $25 at the same time.

We received some wonderful business plans this year, and the competition for the scholarship dollars was intense. I think it is always exciting to award these scholarships, and I look forward to a packed room!

The Lunch Connection Event is now rotating through several restaurants. Please click here for the next lunch. Please make sure to get them on your calendar and to RSVP. We are limiting this event to 30 people.

We started a new Networking event this month - Business Networking Breakfast (BNB). Virginia Rodriguez and Patsy Foxworth are organizing this brand new networking event by popular demand. BNB is a direct result of the feedback we received from our members for a business networking opportunity. Be sure to register for the April 27 event.

Finally, I would like to extend a special thanks to my board and the ESA and AIOHO teams. We had an incredible number of members - and corporate partners - work very hard to make these events as successful as they have been. I cannot thank you all enough.

I always enjoy connecting with you. Feel free to contact me at president@nawbosa.org.

2010 ESA Gala a Tremendous Success

A big thank you to everyone who attended the 2010 Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards Gala. The event was a tremendous success with around 325 guests and a great keynote speech from Nina Vaca, CEO of Pinnacle Technical Resources. We hope everyone had a wonderful time as we celebrated six women business owners who positively impact our community.

New Business Networking Breakfast

You talked and we listened. We had multiple members say they were interested in networking with one another, and as a result, we have created the NAWBO San Antonio Business Networking Breakfast.

On March 23, we kicked off the first monthly Business Networking Breakfast (BNB) and it was truly a GREAT way to start off the day. With 15 in attendance, networking and connections were across the map. This event has a different flair, focusing on the business relationships that spring from meeting new people. 12 people were prospective NAWBOSA members we really enjoyed meeting!
